Nerds!
Yesterday night there was a dinner at SLAC. I decided to go and meet some other summer students (all college students) just to get a perspective of college life as a physicist and also just to meet new people. All I can say is, 'wow.'I had such an awesome time, I can't wait to go off to college. So we first started off with a catered dinner (which was a nice change for the college students cause they've been cooking their own stuff for the past 7 weeks). We first discussed colleges (two go to MIT, one goes to CalTech, one goes to Princeton, and one goes to Georgia Tech). I definitely got a feel for how each college is, I'm very glad I talked to them. But the night was still young so we started discussing our work, and that's the first time I realized there are people who actually enjoy discussing physics. I've never had a lively discussion on CP violation, neutrinos, lensing, dark matter, quantum, and a whole bunch of other random physics stuff. Now to be perfectly honest, half the stuff went right over my head, but it's just so much fun talking to people who find it perfectly normal to discuss physics over dinner. When they looked at a glass of wine, they looked for lensing and dispersion instead of alcohol content and color. When they saw the screen in my prius, they were ecstatic to see a graph. After dinner, we went to CoHo (Stanford's coffee house) and listen to jazz while discussing LaTeX (a word processor, not a condom) and other random stuff while listening to the standford jazz camp play. I can't wait to go to college if this is how life is: going to a coffee house with your friends, discussing stuff while listening to jazz. How could life be any better?
The funny thing is that I've been offered so much alcohol at SLAC, it's unbelievable. I think I've been offered alcohol once by someone during my 3 years at school, just yesterday, 4 different people offered to buy me beer/wine.
Another funny thing was watching two nerds who liked each other trying to get together but not know how. They were so awkward it was hilarious. Oh how I love nerds!

Hi I like your blog. Does blogger have some sort of digest/friends sort of thing? I know I have an account I just don't remember the username or password.
Hey, so I'm really excited about Journalism. Do we have set days for workshop or bonding? Maybe I'm not getting the e-mails or something.
So anyways Hi, I can imagine you conversing with physicist.
omg you're so mean about those nerds in love. HAVE A BIT OF SYMPATHY, EH? and you say I'M sadistic =_=
