Senior Portrait
I got my senior portrait in the mail yesterday. The photographer told me not to smile in about half my pictures so I look mad, tired, or bored. It's kind of funny. I was too lazy to pick prints so I just gave them to my mom and told her to pick whatever she wants. I was just wondering, does anyone find it weird that they don't own the pictures of themselves? I find it particularly odd that they deem it illegal to photocopy a picture of yourself. They argue that they need to make a profit, but that's what the $30 sitting fee is for. It does not take $30 to provide me a chair to sit in for 1/2 hour. Moreover, the pictures are required. If taking the pictures was optional, then we voluntarily enter into a contract which forbids us from photocopying pictures. But we are more or less forced into agreeing to their terms and forking over $30. Even more absurd is required the $50 deposit. If I want to buy $50 worth of pictures, I'll send in my $50 when I buy it. Don't make me pay in advance for something I haven't seen yet, or even know if I want to purchase. I know it's a refundable deposit, but I should not be required to giving them an interest free loan for a few months. Atleast when it sits in my bank account, it accrues some interest for me.
