Lead Away

We had our annual Leadership Retreat today, a day where we go far (this year quite far) away from school to "regroup." We went to Boomers in Modesto (told you it was far) which is basically a place with an arcade, laser tag arena, go-carts, and bumper boats. It was incredibly fun.

Yet the question always is in the back of my mind, is this right? Should Leadership leave for a day to go play and have fun? It seems unfair that Leadership students get to leave school for a day and play and definitely does not set a good example. I guess other classes do it to (ie. physics goes to Great America), but does that make it right?

Another issue which is brought up is that the trip (at least in the past) is partially subsidized by ASB. Looking at the numbers this year, it does not seem to be subsidized very much at all (we each payed $25), but still it seems ridiculous that student body money should be spent to send Leadership on a day long vacation, no matter what the purported purpose.
