Flipping Out

On Thursday, Lorraine and Craig dragged Steph, Nico, and me to gymnastics class. The picture explains it all. As you can see on the right, Craig and Lorraine were perfectly capable of doing all the activities, such as hand stands. Steph and I were not so talented or well rehearsed, resulting in our gorgeous face plants.
So when we got there, the first thing we did was warmed up. Now I consider myself in decently good shape. I can take some running and plyometrics, but our coach, Nikita, was insane. He made us do some weird squat runs, jumps, lunges, rolls, and god knows what else. I was sweating like I just finished cross country practice. And this was just the warm up.
Next we stretched. I have never in my life stretched so much. The good thing is that I have also never felt so limber in my life. So after the hour long stretching, pulling edward apart, session, we started doing some tumbling.
Now if you didn't know, I get HORRIBLE motion sickness. I already don't do well on long car rides, so I was in for a long evening. We first started off with some basic forward and backwards roles, which I could do decently. Next we went to cartwheels, which aren't exactly my thing. Then we went to round-offs/1-handed cartwheels. Let's just say I spent more time on the ground than on my feet.
Finally, the coach let us into the pit, which was our reward for all that hard work we did earlier. The pit was defintiely the most fun part, doing flips into the foam where absolutely nothing hurts. It's such a fun feeling flying in the air.
But there is a price for everything. Today is Saturday, and I'm still ridiculously sore. My legs, arms, back, heck, my whole body hurts.
Gymnastics was incredibly fun, but it's a once in a lifetime experience, and I've done it once.
