Gasguzzling Guilt?

Feeling guilty about spewing greenhouse gasses into the air? Well feel better by buying back your pollution.

I calculated all 3 of my household's cars on TerraPass's website.

2001 Toyota Prius:
Fuel mileage stats
Miles per gallon (city): 52
Miles per gallon (highway): 45
Gallons per year: 247
Lbs of carbon dioxide per year: 4,832

2000 Lexus ES300:
Miles per gallon (city): 19
Miles per gallon (highway): 26
Gallons per year: 533
Lbs of carbon dioxide per year: 10,428

2005 Honda Civic Hybrid:
Miles per gallon (city):45
Miles per gallon (highway): 51
Gallons per year: 250
Lbs of carbon dioxide per year: 4,891

Just for refference "Burning a gallon of gasoline produces about 20 pounds of CO². So the average SUV - which travels 12,000 miles a year - pumps out about 20,000 pounds of greenhouse gases annually. On today's market, TerraPass can scrub that pollution from the environment for less than 80 bucks."

So all three of my cars COMBINED pollute less than the average SUV.
