League Finals

After 6 years of cross country, I ran the last meet I will probably ever run today. It has been such a ride. Ever since pounding up FireTrail with Mr. Murray in 7th grade, I've been in love with the sport. I remember leading the 8th grade race, then throwing up in the middle and losing my lead. I remember running head to head with Craig up Ridge. But most importantly, I remember all the good times and good friends I've made along the way. All the inside jokes: Hootchie Mama, Get Low, Stacey's (Nayson's) mom.

When I stood on the line today, it was one of the most gut wrenching feelings I've ever had. 6 years of my training came down to this. To be honest, after the gun went off I remember almost nothing. I was just lost in time. 8 times now, I've run Cyrstal Springs, and it hasn't gotten any easier. But at least now I can say I'm finished, and that I'm happy with what I've done.

Cross country has been one of the best activities I have participated in. Everyday, every practice, presented me with an opportunity to grow. It has helped clear my mind and keep me in shape. I challenge anyone to please find me something more fun than zipping across ridge with the wind to your back and a friend on your side.

I'm going to miss is the senior boys. We've been through it all together. We've seen each other grow and get stronger, fall and get injured, then heal and get faster. We've been teepeed and then teepeed back. We've eaten together, and eaten together, and eaten together. After four years, 36 meets, 1200 miles, and too many good times to count, all I can say is that I love you guys.

You are my favorite person who always throws up. The last five seasons with you have been absolutely fun. Yay for food and recipes!
